Crossing Lines- Voices of Identity

Presents a collection of pieces where I begin to define my artistic language, expressing deep personal and cultural narratives.

After moving to Canada, my color palette began to shift. The harsh reds and blacks gradually gave way to happier shades of blue and white, mirroring the change in my surroundings and the new sense of freedom I felt. Later, when my daughter came into my life, she brought with her a spectrum of vivid colors that have since infused my work, making it more vibrant and full of life than ever before.

We live in a world filled with insecurity, uncertainty, stress, tension, poverty, and instability. Life often feels dominated by repetitive routines and chores, causing us to lose focus and become disconnected from the realities surrounding us.

My paintings delve into life from my unique perspective, using layers to create depth and complexity. Through the lens of my multicultural identity, I examine the world around me, seeking to capture its intricacies and nuances.

My art serves as a bridge, connecting me with others by highlighting shared challenges, issues, vulnerabilities, and dreams.

I have become increasingly focused on the concepts of place and belonging. My work delves into landscapes and their elements through direct interaction with my environment. By gathering elements from my surroundings and reassembling them, I create imaginary environments that reflect my experiences.

This body of work explores a range of topics, including personal memories, everyday rituals, self-awareness, and integration. Through my art, I aim to convey the complex relationship between individuals and their environments, highlighting the ways in which our sense of place shapes our identity and experiences. My hope is that this exploration resonates with viewers, fostering a deeper understanding of their own connections to the places they inhabit.
